A person sending texts or SMSs or short message services should adhere to certain rules and regulations.  It is very important to keep in mind that the SMSs or text messages sent or received should not go beyond one hundred and sixty characters in length.  Some of the rules and regulations for SMSs are given below:

The person sending SMS should be very careful that he should not mean to abuse or harass or threaten anybody as the person sending such SMS can land up in great problem and even can end up spending his life in jail.  Moreover the person sending SMS should not pretend to be some one else as it even for fun can be dangerous as it can get forwarded to the police and in turn lead to severe problems.

The SMS message should also not contain or use any kind of obscene or bad language; in case any objectionable word is used the sender can be framed for abusing.  The most important thing is that no confidential or secretive messages should be sent via SMS as it can be easily traced by any unknown party or can be forwarded to someone who can misuse without caution and so on.  Confidential information are the ones that are very sensitive in nature like the bank account number or pin number or locker key number and so on.

Another misuse happening with the use of SMS is through passing useless message, otherwise known as spamming and people should refrain from doing so.  Mainly spamming is used by advertisers and companies who are into advertising.  But it has to be noted that such kind of passing useless messages is considered to be crime and many of the service providers are against this practice that they are taking action against it.  When found to be abusing, the person sending such SMS might have to face the law.

The above rules and regulations have been trained as many persons are getting affected by such SMS.  Many countries around the world have seen many different varieties of such crimes and abuse that now people are aware and cautious about it.
